Between 9 and 11 July 2025, several ViCom projects took part in the 10th Conference of the International Society for Gesture Studies (ISGS10) in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The conference brought together more than 250 scholars interested in gesture, multimodal communication, embodied cognition, and beyond. Over three days, the program featured thematic talk sessions, symposia, and poster presentations.
Despite a high rejection rate this year, ViCom was strongly represented with numerous contributions: in total, 14 project members and affiliates participated with talks and posters. In addition, ViCom members were involved in organizing several events, including:
- a pre-conference workshop on Multimodal Negation: Foundations and Dynamics, organised by Silva Ladewig
- a symposium on Multimodal prosody across spoken and sign languages, organised by Pilar Prieto
- a symposium on A multi-approach study of recurrent gestures and linguistic particles across languages, also organised by Silva Ladewig

We are especially proud that two ViCom PhD students, Šárka Kadavá (FLESH project) and Door Spruijt (GtST project), were awarded the Student Poster Prize for their presentation “Exploring the Kinematic Trajectory from Gesture to Sign”. This work emerged from a Short-Term Collaboration between the two projects. Congratulations!
