On the day before this year’s ViCom annual meeting, a group of ViCom PhD students participated in a workshop on “How to PostDoc” with a focus on Grant Proposal writing. The workshop was given by Dr. Sabine Preusse (Raum-Zeit) and served as a follow-up to the workshop she gave to the ViCom ECR group in November 2023 (“How to PhD”).
We learned about different stages of the grant proposal writing process, tips and tricks on how to start having an idea, and how to develop this into a full proposal. The workshop contained multiple timeslots to work on one’s own ideas, allowing to immediately apply strategies that were introduced before. It also included feedback loops between participants.
The workshop thus provided a very interactive and reinforcing setting with a great atmosphere that showed perspectives for academic life after the PhD.
