Payment of participation fee
Information on the payment of the participation fee have been sent via email. Please reach out to us if you need them again.
Preparation
We would like to ask all the participating projects to prepare a presentation (20 minutes + 10 minutes for discussion). In designing your presentation, you are very flexible and can set the focus of the talk individually. The (preliminary) versions of your slides should be sent to us (contact@vicom.info) by 05.11.2024 in order for the interpreters to adequately prepare for your talks. We will reach out a few weeks before the annual meeting with a reminder.
We would appreciate it if you could send us the preliminary versions of your slides in PDF format. Please also let us know who will be presenting and in which language (DGS/English/bimodal). For the presentation at the annual meeting, there are two options: you can either use the ViCom laptop for your presentation or your own laptop. If you plan to use the ViCom laptop, please let us know in advance, and we will go through the presentation to ensure everything runs smoothly.
As for designing your slides, please use a font size of at least 22 pt (or 28 pt for headings) or larger, and a sans-serif font (e.g., Arial, Calibri). Avoid overcrowding the slides; if necessary, spread the information across multiple slides. Ensure a color scheme with strong contrasts. Enhance accessibility by using text as a complement to or instead of decorative graphics. Try to simplify complex images to their essentials or distribute the content across successive graphics, and please provide a transcription for audio files and subtitles for video files.
For guidelines on interpreting between sign languages and spoken languages, we would like to refer you once again to Liona Paulus’s information brochure, particularly section 2.2.
Additionally, there will be a time slot where, like last year, individual short-term collaborations, as well as project workshops or other ViCom related activities, can be presented. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us now, but we will also reach out to you separately. We would also like to point out that on Thursday of the annual meeting, there will be an opportunity to have short individual conversations with Helga Weyerts-Schweda from the DFG regarding the second phase of ViCom. As there are only limited time capacities, it is worth preparing well for these meetings and to have questions ready.
PhD workshop: Preparing the postdoc phase, Lisa Grow (Göttingen)
The workshop will cover an overview of DFG research funding programs for early career postdocs, as well as career planning in the context of research funding and general information on how to write a proposal. To sign up for the workshop, please use the registration form. We encourage maximum participation. If you have specific wishes for the workshop, please indicate this in the field for further comments in the registration form.
