Abstract

You probably already know this: we don’t just speak with our mouths, but also with our hands and faces. This can be very useful because it allows us to communicate much better in everyday life. Deaf people’s sign languages also use facial expressions and gestures, but in a very different way. That’s why sign languages can’t be understood if you haven’t specifically learned them. Professor Cornelia Ebert (Goethe University) and Professor Markus Steinbach (Göttingen) will explain why this is the case on the third and final day of the lecture series.
