PhD Candidate

Tina Nägele received her Bachelor’s degree (2022) in linguistics at the University of Stuttgart and completed her Master’s degree (2024) in German linguistics at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. She started working as a doctoral researcher in the English department of linguistics at the University of Stuttgart in October 2025. Together with Prof. Dr. Judith Tonhauser, she investigates the iconic content of co-speech gestures in the taxonomy of not-at-issue content. Her main research interests lie in the areas of semantics, pragmatics and gesture studies with a special focus on iconicity, at-issueness and multimodality, but she is also interested in psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics.
