PostDoc Researcher

Sebastian Walter is a postdoctoral researcher specializing in formal and experimental semantics and pragmatics at Goethe University. He is currently working in the DFG-funded ViCom project Visual and non-visual means of perspective taking in language II. In his PhD thesis, he investigated the interaction of gesture and speech with regard to perspective-taking. He completed his MA in linguistics at Goethe University Frankfurt in September 2022 and joined the first phase of the ViCom project Visual and non-visual means of perspective taking in language shortly afterward. His research combines experimental methods with formal-semantic analysis and mainly focuses on gesture semantics, demonstrations, and the expression of perspective in language, with a particular focus on multiperspectivity. Beyond this, he has also worked on topics such as at-issueness, expressivity, modals, conditionals, verbal mood, and multimodal response strategies.
