PhD Candidate

Daniel Teich’s research interests lie in the fields of syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. After completing a B.A. in German and Social Sciences, he obtained his M.A. in German Linguistics from Bergische Universität Wuppertal in September 2025. In his M.A. thesis, he examined the syntax of co-speech gestures. He joined the project “Visual and Non-Visual Means of Perspective Taking in Language” in December 2025 as a PhD Student, where he will investigate the semantics and pragmatics of Internet memes. In particular, he focuses on how meaning emerges from the interplay of text and image, and what this reveals about communication in digital contexts.
