Alina Gregori

Steering Committee Member, PhD Candidate, PhD Contact Person

Alina Gregori received her Bachelors (2021) and Masters (2022) degree in linguistics at Goethe University Frankfurt with a focus on Phonology. She is a PhD student in the MultIS project since October 2022. Within the project, she investigates the interaction of prosody and gesture in varying discourse contexts as well as the specific characteristics of gestural prominence. In her dissertation, Alina Gregori focuses on the temporal aspects of prosody-gesture interaction, exploring the timing and alignment of gestural and prosodic cues in communication. The bigger picture entails exploring multimodal prominence marking in different dimensions, including distribution, temporal and salience aspects. Combining empirical approaches in the production and perception of prosody and gestures with situating findings in established theoretical prosody-gesture models is at the core of Alina Gregori’s interest and the second phase aims of MultIS.

As a representative of the Early Career Researchers of ViCom, Alina Gregori is highly interested in exchanging with peers, forming a community, discussing ideas and collaborating within and beyond the ViCom bounds.
