A strong ViCom delegation is currently attending MMSYM 2026 – Embodied Communication in (Inter)action, taking place in Leuven, Belgium, from 9–11 September 2026.
Altogether, 11 researchers associated with ViCom are participating in this year’s symposium. Among them, Pamela Perniss and Wim Pouw have been invited as keynote speakers. Researchers from the ViCom community are also contributing a range of talks and posters on different aspects of multimodal communication.
Among these contributions is the collaborative project “Presenting the ANM project: Annotation standards for non-manual elements in multimodal communication”, involving a larger group of ViCom researchers. The project grew out of a ViCom workshop and is a great example of how exchange and collaboration within the Priority Programme can lead to new joint research initiatives.
We are delighted to see the ViCom community so strongly represented at MMSYM 2026 and wish everyone in Leuven an inspiring and productive symposium!
